i have been a preacher for several years now.

Do you often find yourself using these devices to proselytize to those here, or only us newcomers?

honestly, that wasn't meant for you, ma'am. i send things to those that have asked for counsel and no one else. i apologize but i am not one to proselytize unless asked.

You mistake my words as a complaint, sir. The psalm itself is alarmingly relevant to events I have... recently experienced.

In other words, you may have provided righteous counsel whether you intended to or not.

is it now? well, i suppose one gets lucky every once in awhile. having a little trouble with men, i assume?

More like a recent reconciliation with God. Or so I believed, at the time. Since I've arrived here, I'm less certain of that belief.

and why is that?

Without going into significant detail, I thought I was dying at the time. So no, coming to a place like this was not something I had considered.

it wasn't really in my plans either.
but since i've become what i am, i've discovered that what i think i want and need isn't always right.

A wise observation. And how is it you came to be what you are?

a long story but let's say it's a familial thing. it wasn't always my thing, though. had to make a few mistakes to get here.

And God was waiting for you at the end of your mistakes?

god and my father's church.
seemed silly to just let it sit there, empty.

Can a church ever be truly empty?

it was a ball of dust and had been for several long years.
i've been trying to build it up again for awhile.

A noble task. I'd ask if you've been able to reap the benefits of your labor as of yet, but that may no longer be the case considering where we both are.

this place has certainly changed my goals, yes. i don't really think opening a church here would do anyone any good so i mostly talk to people one on one. which is how you came to get that verse.

So you've taken your calling to the streets. Unorthodox, but it seems to have served you well in this instance.
